Core concepts

An enterprise workspace where each user chats with a pi agent that runs in an isolated sandbox.

Language

Work

Session: A person's unit of work in one Org: one conversation with the assistant and the work state open beside it (tabs, the location in each activity). Stored as a Conversation (adrs/0010.md). Avoid: chat, thread, workspace

Shell mode: How the shell lays out the active Session: Chat (the assistant at full width), Work (assistant pane beside an activity's tabs) or Navigation (a sidebar beside content). Changing it never changes the Session (adrs/0011.md). Avoid: view, panel

Agent runtime

User Pod: The one sandboxed compute instance per user that hosts the pi agent for all of that user's conversations. This is the Kubernetes perimeter. On the Docker backend used by ./dev.sh, each Warm Session is its own container instead. Avoid: sandbox pod, agent pod

Warm Session: A conversation's live pi process running inside the User Pod, kept alive between turns. Avoid: session (unqualified)

Pi session: The pi agent's own resumable session for one conversation (PiSession), whatever process is running it. Avoid: session (unqualified), agent session

Pre-warm: Starting a user's User Pod when they log in, before their first message, so the first reply isn't delayed by pod startup. Avoid: warm-up, spin-up
